For a new one:

  1. Apply at
  1. Pick what passport booklet you want. 32 pages and 64 pages are available for 5 years or 10 years.
  2. I paid 25,000 NGN online through the various options that were provided. 1,000 NGN was service charge. Total is N26,0000. I paid for 32 pages (5 years)
  3. After completing the application online and paying, I downloaded three documents – The application form, the payment receipt and the Guarantor’s form.
  1. Proceed to book an appointment in the immigration office nearest to you and print out the appointment slip.

After you’ve done all these, you will want to collate all the documents needed and prepare for your capturing.

P.S: I did mine at Ikeja Passport office and these are the things I took along.

  1. Remember that you’ve printed your appointment slip, application form and payment receipt from the portal.
  2. If you do not live in your state of Origin, go to your state’s liaison office in your state of residence and collect a state of origin certificate. Prices differ per state.
  3. Your guarantor’s form needs to be signed by the commissioner of Oaths. Your guarantor also has to sign two of your passport photographs and one of theirs behind the passport. They should also include a photocopy of the bio-data page of their international passport (not-expired).
  4. Take your guarantor’s form to the High Court of your state of residence. Get it signed and stamped.
  5. Proceed to capture on your appointment date and wait three months for your passport. But you can track here:

Important things to note:

  1. Some immigration offices require you to have another application form that will be given at their offices
  2. Carry original of your documents also because they might need to sight it
  3. I had a very smooth experience on the day of my capturing at the Ikeja Passport Office. If you’re in Lagos, you will want to try them out.
